Crab Theory

May 4, 2011

Crab theory exists everywhere even in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Government community. If you remember the DHHIG 2009 election at the NTC- team consisting of Gagnon, McKay, Broadus, and Kaldini ran against the team that formed at the last minute.

Olumoya’s team won the election by close votes. Rumors are that the election itself was fixed but there is no proof of this but what we can tell you is that, Olumoya’s team formed at the very last minute with a purpose to prevent new people from taking the DHHIG’s leadership position in the organization.

This is where crab theory comes to the picture. They simply didn’t want to see younger people who have passion and fresh blood take the leadership role and succeed.

If you take a look at the current board of directors on the DHHIG’s website, you will notice that Olumoya’s team is no longer there. They quit some time after the election and now Mark McKay is the President of the DHHIG. There were no passions from the old board members for sake of the general members but just simply wanted to block new people in. By winning the election then quit afterwards set the organization back several steps backward but McKay was able to come up and pinch hit for the DHHIG.

So- THANKS MARK for taking the bat and pave the way for the DHHIG and its future leaders.
