Hi! My name is Steven Gagnon. We would like to invite all deaf Government employees to a lunch social. There, we can discuss various of topics and issues. At the same time, meet new people. Anyone is welcome!!! We would love to meet all of you.
Since we are trying this for the first time, we will meet this Thursday 3/26/2009 at noon to 1:00.
Meet at the food court by the USDA graduate school building- the building that has Cosmo, Starbucks, Vie de France cafe. You can bring your own lunch. We will be sitting by the tables near the Vie de France cafe.
You can get there by getting off at the L’Enfant plaza metro station, Make sure you take the Maryland Ave and 7th street exit!!!
The only ground rule we have is that we ask you all to please respect each other’s voices and opinions.
COME ONE, COME ALL!! See you there!

I have a Networking luncheon with our division that date and absolutely must attend (mandatory) It’s in the Rosslyn Spectrum.
If not for this, I would be there! I hope lots of people attend and show how they can volunteer for specific positions or activities so we can move forward.

No problem Deb- someone suggested we make it a weekly thing till election to encourage more participation.. then contiune this bi-weekly or once monthly…
Maybe make it our new DPHH but something like this Deaf Government Employees Lunch Happy Hour (DGELHH) … yuck @ the name LOL.
If so, any ideas for next location? Any suggestions??? One idea being thrown is meeting at Union Station by the Sushi bar in the food court level?

I like the location that you currently have suggested for now. If this is a weekly event, I will be able to make it the week of March 30 – April 3.
We do need a way to include Government employees and motivate us all to VOLUNTEER..right now only a select few are working in DHHIG and imo, this is causing a mind-set of exclusiveness in some board members.
We need a way to show everyone that DHHIG is open to us all. With the guidance of older members that have served, more employees can grow and develop and take DHHIG to new heights!
We (volunteers) all began as newbies with our job experience and grew as we gained more experience in doing tasks that are not normally assigned to Deaf employees. As we grew, our employers noticed the growth and started assigning more responsiblity. All Federal Employees deserve a chance to grow.
How about DEF Happy Hour? Deaf Employees of the Federal government. lol

Hi Steven,
I would like to ask if I could attend to give a small presentation about entrepreneur leadership program during your luncheon. In the past, I have had several government employees attending this program at company time with full pay. I feel it is worth their time. I have taught this program at Gallaudet University for the past four years. This year, it will be from July 6 thru 10, 2009. Please advise.

Hi Bernie! How are you? its been a while!!

Hi Bernie,
It would be great to have you give a workshop. However, I do not believe at this time that this is the appropriate venue for you.
Steven, we only have an hour to focus on the present task of letting members voice their concerns and outline how they can help. What committes they can volunteer and getting all this information while at the same time, trying to eat our lunch.
Maybe another time would be better? I do not want to lose focus of what we are trying to accomplish.

I just e-mailed him explaining whats going on. I’m sure he will understand.
