DHHIG’s New Administration

Even though Steve Gagnon, Mark McKay, Deborah Broadus, and Jason Kaldini lost the election but overall,  the DHHIG MEMBERS won. The team only lost by 20 to 30 votes out of 200 voters. The message is CLEAR that DHHIG has to change its ways and include its own members in the organization. The CFDGE moderators would like to welcome new board member at large- Pamela Baldwin, Lee Smith, Kevin Ball, and Tom Hattaway. We hope these people can bring changes to the organization and make it more effective and transparent to its own members.

The CFDGE team also hopes that the new Administration- John Olumoya and Yael Ariess will work with the members to accomplish DHHIG’s goal and missions. They have made several promises to work with us and we hope they keep their promises for the remaining of their term.

CFDGE site will be moving to a new domain, and it will become a members gateway for the DHHIG. Announcement for the new domain will be coming shortly.

Thanks!

I am waiting to see if they re install the link for the members to volunteer for chairs of the committees that they were previously searching for.

When they were first running, they were so adamant that none of the members were volunteering for positions, or that they couldn’t get anything done because peopel were not working with them.

Interestingly enough, once they won, the link came DOWN and so did the search for chair persons of the Finance committee, Bylaws committee, etc.

I wonder what their excuse for not accomplishing much in the next two years will be…ummm?

First off I’d like to say that for the first time in the history of DHHIG there was a fired-up elections process with a full scale campaign run on both sides. Both teams had expressed PASSION for DHHIG. Everyone wanted to help. The energy in the air at NTC was amazing!!! This is a wonderful exposure in CHANGE!!!

To my fellow colleagues, there are so many issues that affect us deaf and hard of hearing government workers. Issues such as accessible VP technologies in the workplace, reasonable accommodations, career advancement, and most of all building a solid networking and mentoring program for our current and future deaf and hard of hearing government employees.

I hope that everyone who views this site as well as the DHHIG website will come forward and offer their skills and volunteer some time and energy in helping shape the future of our deaf and hard of hearing in government organization. It all starts with YOU.

I am speaking as an individual who is committed to improving the worklife of our peers. My term as DHHIG board member ended on May 7, 2009. I am still among you all in the community, and will continue to work both within my workplace in helping my fellow co-workers, and will make it my personal mantra to see that our community continues to thrive in a positive way!!!

Members and non-mamebers, we need you!!!!!

Congratulations to the new DHHIG administration!!!

    Regards,

    Kirsten Poston
